UN Comprehensive Protection of Civilians ToT Course Opens at the Rwanda Peace Academy

The “United Nations Comprehensive Protection of Civilians Training of Trainers (ToT) Course” started  today Monday 26 February 2018 at the Rwanda Peace Academy (RPA) training facility in Musanze.  The one –week course will run up to 2 March 2018 and is jointly organized by the Governments of Rwanda, the Netherlands and the United States of America as well as the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO).  It will be attended by a total of 36 military, police and civilian officers from eleven countries namely: Benin; Ethiopia; Ghana; Kenya; Malawi; Netherlands; Rwanda; Switzerland; Uganda; the United States of America; and Zambia.

The course seeks to familiarize peacekeeping trainers from member States with the newly developed Comprehensive Protection of Civilians (CPOC) training materials, in order to enable them to deliver the same course in their respective countries.
