United Nations Military Experts on Mission Course Opens at the RPA

The “United Nations Military Experts on Mission (UNMEOM) Course” started today Monday, 29 October 2018 at the Rwanda Peace Academy (RPA) and will run up to 15 November 2018. The official opening ceremony was presided over by the Joint Chief of Staff at the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) Planning Element, Maj Gen Charles Rudakubana, on behalf of the EASF Director.

The ceremony was also attended by the Director of the Rwanda Peace Academy, Col. Jill Rutaremara and facilitators from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF).

The three week- course was funded by the Government of Sweden and is organized in partnership with the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) and the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO).

 A total of 21 military personnel drawn from 5 EASF member states, namely:  Comoros, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia and Uganda will attend the course.

The objective of the course is to train military officers who will later be serving in the United Nations and African Union peacekeeping operations as military observers, military liaison officers and military advisers.
