United Nations Military Expert on Mission Course Ends

The course was officially closed by the Swedish Ambassador to Rwanda, H.E Jenny Ohlsson.

The “United Nations Military Experts on Mission (UNMEOM) Course” that started on 22 July 2019 at the Rwanda Peace Academy (RPA) ended yesterday, Thursday 8 August 2019. The course was officially closed by the Swedish Ambassador to Rwanda, H.E Jenny Ohlsson. 

 The ceremony was also attended by the Joint Chief of Staff at the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) Planning Element, Maj Gen Charles Rudakubana, the Swedish Defense Attaché to Rwanda with residence in South Africa, Lt Col Håkan Sjöberg, the Coordinator of the Nordic Advisory and Coordination Staff (NACS), Commander Stefan Sivaro, the NACS Executive Secretary, Ms Terry Obadha and a team of facilitators from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF). The officials were received by the Director of Rwanda Peace Academy, Col Jill Rutaremara.

 A total of 26 military personnel from four EASF member states, namely:  Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia and Sudan attended the course.

The objective of the course was to prepare and equip officers with relevant knowledge and skills to enable them serve as military observers, military liaison officers and military advisers at any United Nations peacekeeping mission and particularly for the current United Nations (UN) operations.
