Military in Internal Security Operations Workshop Opens at the Rwanda Peace Academy
The workshop was officially opened by Maj. Marcel Mbabazi, the Head of Training at the Rwanda
The “Military in Internal Security Operations Workshop” started today Monday, 27 January 2020 at the Rwanda Peace Academy (RPA) and will run up to 31 January 2020. The workshop is organised in partnership between the Rwanda Peace Academy and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
It was officially opened by Maj. Marcel Mbabazi, the Head of Training at the Rwanda Peace Academy. The ICRC’s armed and security forces regional delegate, Mr. Robert Polley and a team of facilitators from the ICRC were present at the opening ceremony.
The aim of the workshop is to enhance participant’s awareness of their obligations under national law guided by international laws, norms and standards as well as their ability to lawfully and appropriately exercise law enforcement powers.
A total of 20 Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) officers are attending the workshop.
