The United Nations Military Observers Training of Trainers (ToT) Course that started on Monday, 8 November 2021 at the Rwanda Peace Academy (RPA) training facility in Musanze ended today Friday, 19 November 2021. The course was funded by the Government of the United Kingdom (UK) through the British Peace Support Team, Africa (BPST-A).
It was officially closed by Colonel (Rtd) Jill Rutaremara, the Director of the Rwanda Peace Academy. The purpose of the course was to build the capacity of the RDF personnel and their understanding of the UN Core Pre-Deployment Training Materials (CPDTM) as well as the Standard Training Materials (STM) for UN Military Observers. A total of 20 Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) officers attended the training.
“The training will enable the RDF to train many potential Military Observers without necessarily relying on expertise from its partners,” the Director of the Rwanda Peace Academy said. He also applauded the fruitful partnership between the Rwanda Peace Academy, the British Peace Support Team (Africa) and the UN Integrated Training Service (ITS).
