Peace Support Operations (PSO) Civilian Foundation Course Opens at the Rwanda Peace Academy

Musanze– 12 September 2022

The Peace Support Operations (PSO) Civilian Foundation Course started today at the Rwanda Peace Academy (RPA) training facility in Musanze and will run up to 23 September 2022.  A two-week course is organized in partnership between the Government of Rwanda through the Rwanda Peace Academy, the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) Secretariat and the African Union (AU).

The aim of the course is to introduce civilian participants to theoretical concepts and practical methods of contemporary PSO by providing detailed realistic insights into the conceptual and institutional frameworks of multidimensional PSO, cross-cutting issues and an overview of core functional areas that contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of all the components in a multidimensional PSO.

Twenty five (25) civilian personnel from 10 EASF member states, namely: Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda will attend the course.
